The official UEFA EURO 2008™ Fan Zone opened for business in Vienna's city centre with thousands of fans enjoying the beautiful summer weather – in stark contrast to the conditions in Basel for the tournament's first game.
Classical and pop
Austria's capital, which will stage the final on 29 June, welcomed fans from all over Europe in the build-up to the big-screen showing of Switzerland v Czech Republic, with performances by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and the Vienna Boys Choir to open proceedings. Then, to thunderous applause, the classical opening was followed by local pop hero Christina Stürmer and her hit song Fieber (Fever), producing a party atmosphere before a ball had been kicked. Every game will be shown at UEFA EURO 2008™ Fan Zones throughout the eight tournament venues.
